Gazpacho was created as part of Głos newspaper redesign project and it was actually my first attempt to create "serious" text typeface.
I've started sketching letterforms with an office highlighter (weapon of choice of many starting type designers) what gave them calligraphic character and little roundness to stroke terminals.
Text version was designed for target point size around 9 so it has large x-height to maintain legibility and relatively low stroke contrast for comfortable reading. As the newspaper it was meant to be used was in Polish and Czech important part of the design are also diacritical marks which are generously sized and have some of the calligraphic character as the letters they accompany.
Display version is more contrasty, tightly spaced and ascenders are higher.
