Veselica is part of visual identity of slovak state national dance (SĽUK). As starting point for this typeface served works of mythical slovak type designer Martin Benka, who was for a change influenced by slovak rural typography.

My intention was to create a display typeface that would be in the same fashion as the production of SĽUK – a contemporary interpretation of slovak
folk  traditions.

So instead of digitizing original Benka's design I made typeface that has some characteristics of Benka's typefaces: sharp, almost wood-cut character, odd skew stroke terminals, hexagonal counters, and construction of some uppercase characters.
